Going through the archives, found some early concept art for an old project!

Felt the need to work in analog today.  Invasion of the Neptune Men was on!

Dinos

More after-work dinos!

More after work sketching!

Feeling the need for some random non-work-related sketching lately.

Trying out my nifty new iPad stylus.  Must start drawing more!

Demo Reel

Here's my demo for 2013.  New content coming soon!

Dino Doodles

I love working in animation, but sometime one of the side effects I find is when I spend all day drawing, I spend less time drawing just for myself.  But then sometimes I also find myself drawing dinosaurs for no particular reason.

Perdue Family Heritage Spot

Here is a recent commercial spot I was the animation director for.  Produced by the awesome people at Nathan Love!

Turbo FAST Coming Soon!

A show I was very proud to be a part of will be debuting on Netflix this Christmas Eve!  It turned out so pretty.  I believe it will be Netflix's first original children's program.

 Check it out!

Natural History Day

After a long time away!

Met Sketching Time

Quick sketching day at the Met again, another detail study of the Uglino statue.

Spider Monkeys in Okinawa

Pen-sketching a family of spider monkeys while traveling with the family in Okinawa, Japan!

5-Second Day Film

Today marks my 1-year anniversary working at Titmouse, Inc.  It's been a wild, busy, strange year!  Here's my film for Titmouse's annual 5-Second Day Film Festival.  I originally intended to animate it but something about the key poses appealed to me to let it be.  If you can tell me what this thing's about I'd very much like to know.

Met Sketching

Impromtu sketch day at the Met.  Lefebvre's "Graziella" and and Ruckstull's "Evening".  I plan to go back and study them again.

Ipad Sketches

Breaking in my nifty new Adonit Touch stylus on the subway.  Sketching on the iPad still takes some getting used to but this stylus makes it so much smoother.

Superjail! Season 3 Finale Airs Tonight!

The final episode of the current season of Superjail! airs tonight at 12:15 am.  It was a real treat to able to work together with some many talented people on this production.

Please tune in to the finale tonight and bask in the insanity!

Superjail! Season 3!

It's been a looong break in between postings.  This is one of the reasons why:

Superjail! Season 3 is now airing Sundays on [adult swim] at 12:15 am.  Check it out and see the insanity that I've had the privilege of working on together with some extremely talented people this year.

People Watching

Little bit of (notably) overdue practice in the park.

The sketchbook's been looking pretty empty lately!

New Year, New Stuff!

First post of the new year brings quick pen crowd-watching gestures from cafes and such.  It's a challenge to go back to straight pen-work after working so long on the computer.

I'm going to try to keep up regular posting this year!   I'd like to get back into some painting and illustration, and definitely more life-drawing.

Frick Collection Studies

We stopped by the Frick Collection today for a short sketch session.  It's a fantastic museum and I'd like to go back soon for further study.

I really liked this woman's expression.

I also tried a few quick compositional thumbnails as an exercise to break down the elements of story and light and shadow.  This is something I definitely want to do more of.

ASIFA Pose Drawing Session FALL/WINTER 2011 #1

After several months hiatus I finally made it back to the gesture drawing class.  It's fun to see how easy it is to get rusty at this kind of study even when you spend every day of the week drawing.

These are 1-2 minutes:

3-4 minutes:

Rembrandt Studies

Over Thanksgiving vacation we checked out a traveling Rembrandt exhibit.  We managed to get a few quick studies in before we were told that sketching the paintings wasn't permitted.  It was great to see some of these works in person though.

Raleigh Zoo Studies

We decided to take in the Raleigh Zoo over Thanksgiving.  It's been a while since I last tried straight-up brush and pen gestures, but it's always a lot of fun.

Here's a few more I only had time to take pictures of:

Back to the History Museum

It was another nice Saturday so we stopped by the Natural History Museum again for a little last-minute studying.

Later at dinner my wife and I did a little jam sketch.
